Russel Bell's India Report — January 20–March 15, 2004

Dear Interested and Supporters:

I have now completed my 37th trip to Indian and 69th trip overseas for Jesus. The first half of this trip I worked with Mike Niehues, Sabetha, Kansas and a week in the Chennai area with Gene Reneau. I always enjoy working with these two good preachers. The last month I worked with Indian partners. I was privileged to speak at four school of preaching graduations. They were at Eluru with Abraham Lincoln, Jangareddygudem with P. Naghabushnam, T.J. Hughes and one of his sons Shane, Draksharama with T. Prasanna Vijay Kamar and National Bible College with Peter Solomon. These are good schools producing good preachers. Part of my work involves visiting these graduates in their congregations and providing worship supplies and some good books in their Telugu language.

I cannot say enough good about the print ministries that compliment our work like Truth for Today by Eddie Clone, World Bible School by Tex Williams, all the printed material in several languages by J.C. Choate plus all his radio and TV programs around India. From a combination of all these works we have grown from three churches of Christ in 1963 in India to more that 15,000 churches of Christ in India today. This is phenomenal for 42 years work, but there is a down side to this. Almost all of these are infant churches and very vulnerable. We probably do not have more that 15 to 20 congregations with scriptural elders which is very, very dangerous. This is why everywhere I go I'm preaching on qualifications and work of elders and deacons. On Paul's first preaching trip as he concluded, he revisited all of those churches he had established and appointed elders in every church (Acts 14:23). We are now emphasizing the second part of the great commission, Matthew 28:20 "teaching them [the ones you baptize] to observe all that Jesus commanded [including appointing elders and deacons].

About half of this $50,000 has been donated and spent on this first trip of 2004 to India leaving a need for the other $25,000 for our second trip to india in Aug./Sept. Please donate if you can to support this ministry. Make checks payable to INDIA EVANGELIST or CHURCH OF CHRIST and send checks to either of the addresses on this letterhead or in the enclosed, self-addressed envelope.

Special thanks to the Rusk Church of Christ that oversees my work. Also, special thanks to all the churches and individuals who support my family and me plus provide the $50,000.00 for these projects listed.

God continues to bless our India Evangelism. Churches of Christ are growing spiritually and in number. Pray for us and them. Hundreds of permanent church buildings are coming up all over India, but especially in Andrah Predash and Tamil Nadu. As soon as they are finished they fill up very quickly. My books Rightly Dividing the Word of God, Volumes 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are all available at $5.00 each; God, Man, Money at $10.00 per copy. I pay postage. All money from book sales go to India Evangelism.

This was by far the greatest trip to India yet. Praise God! God bless you for you donations. Please pray for me. Call on me for anything. Please help me on my 38th trip to India in Aug./Sept. 2004.

Love,

Russel G. Bell
