God has always instructed his people to do things according to the pattern that He has set forth. God told Moses, "And look that thou make them after their pattern, which was showed thee in the mount" (Exodus 25:40). On numerious occasions He told His people to do things according to His pattern.
Today, we have a pattern unfolded to us in the New Testament, of a plan given by God for a way to go to Heaven after our life here on this earth is over. We have a plan for our salvation. But, ever since man was created in the Garden of Eden, he has not been satisfied with God's plan or pattern of things. He seeks to change God's plan.
When God tells us to believe that Christ is His Son, we must believe it from the heart. When He tells us to repent, He expects us to have godly sorrow for the sins that we have committed, and he also expects us to live a faithful Christian life. When he tells us to confess that Christ is His Son, He expects us to not only confess with our mouth but to show by our everyday living on this earth that we believe that. When God tells us to be baptized for the remission of our sins, He expects us to do it in the way that He has instructed us. He has given us a pattern to go by in baptism.
The following verses from the word of God give us the pattern:
ACTS 8:38: "And he commanded the chariot to stand still and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him."
JOHN 3:23: "John also was baptizing in Aenon near Salim because there was much water there and they came and were baptized."
ROMANS 6:4: "Therefore we are buried with him by baptism that like as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father even so we also should walk in newness of life."
This is the pattern of baptism that God has given us. To do it any other way such as sprinkling or pouring a little water on one's head is disregarding God's pattern.
We have warnings on taking away from God's word or adding to it.
REVELATION 22:18, 19: "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, if any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book, and if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life and out of the holy city and from the things where are written in this book."
One is baptized by being immersed in water. This is God's pattern. Do you teach this in your religion? Are you following after a religion that is changing God's pattern? If you are, you are a BLIND FOLLOWER OF BLIND LEADERS.
